Get in the spooky spirit this month with Kids Unlimited Academy’s annual murder-mystery dinner theater.
The Oct. 27 show is a production of KUA’s Royal Kids Theatre, featuring a cast and crew of 16 students and a three-course dinner prepared by KU’s Food Program. Tickets are $14, all-inclusive (or $7 for the show only) and must be purchased by Oct. 20.
A devious dinner party is the setting for a plot that unfolds among a guest list of suspicious characters: The Celebrity, The Writer, The Doctor, The Ladykiller and others. Can any of them be trusted amid the evening’s unexpected twists and turns?
Party host Miss Penelope Chrysler-Michelin, played by KUA seventh grader Iris Gomez, keeps her guests guessing as the weather intensifies on this dark and stormy night and brings an unannounced visitor to the table. Good thing Miss Penelope has thought of everything, including having a backup plan.
Audience participation, extra clues and multiple endings define this dinner theater format, which also allows KUA students to participate in a variety of capacities, said music and theater teacher BriAnna Johnson. KUA kitchen staff and culinary students help to create and execute the menu, and students also work as servers, learning to be professionals, she said.
The fourth annual event is at 6:30 p.m. Purchase tickets at kuaoregon.org/tickets or at the KUA front office.
